Valkyries

Location: 1415 Webster Street, Oakland, CA
Date Painted: May, 2025
Date Photographed: October, 2025
Description: Oakland Valkyries players on purple background.
Notes: From Instagram: During the creative process, Black Star’s “Respiration” came on, and Mos Def’s verse, “blasting holes in the night til she bled sunshine,” painted a picture in our mind. That’s the grind, the Bay Area hustle: light emerging from darkness, pushing through adversity. We wanted to capture a moment, a collective sigh if you will. This mural is that breath, that pause where their legend is written.
