In Oakland, artists have been coming out to paint murals on the plywood, boarded up shops due to the riots and covid. The media doesn’t show this – the way Oakland comes together and heals after damage has been done to our Town. . My high school friend, Sofia @filosa_sofia, and I wanted to do a positive healing mural in downtown Oakland. I wanted to do something to honor Breonna. We learned it was her bday yesterday — she would have been 27. . We had a rough idea, brought our supplies out, found an empty wall, and did it all on the fly. We wanted to have the space available for community to write well wishes to her for her bday, to pay their respects to her. . Special bonus was having more high school friends drop by and add their bits too. @iamjermainehghs @sirweaver24. Jermaine, Sofia, and I had a whole bunch of art classes together in hs! #mrjohnson 🤣 Repping Skyline c/o ‘02!! . If you are in Oakland, go to Broadway & 17th, bring a sharpie and write a loving message for Breonna. She was a healthcare worker and helped many lives during COVID. Please read about how her life was tragically lost at the hands of police. She was a sweet soul. . Thank you to the Oakland community for honking and cheering for us, thanking us as we painted all day. Grateful that this heart and soul of Oakland community is still beating strong. . #breonnataylor #birthdayforbreonna #justiceforbreonna #sayhername #restinpower #blacklivesmatter #oakland #oaklandmurals
