Artist: Marina Perez-Wong
Location: Soltree Alchemy, 3000 block MLK
Date Painted: October, 2020
Date Photographed: December, 2020
Photographer: @eggshell001
Description: Eleguá: head, shells, key
Notes: from the artist: “Eleguá is always mentioned first in any ceremony, because without his permission, the doors to communication with the other Orishas stay closed.” So it is only fitting that I worked on his section first and a day after I completed it, Yemaya came to me in a dream in the form of a tsunami tidal wave. I was going to paint her next. I’m just gonna keep praying to her while I work. I’ll be working on 31st and MLK till the end of the month on a mural for the wonderful godesses who run the amazing community space”
